Smoking kills

There have been several articles written over centuries explaining why smoking is bad for health and why should one quit smoking. But here we would take a quick take on how does smoking kill and why after all people smoke?

Tobacco and Nicotine have a relaxing effect on the human body. Smoke inhaled from a cigarette relaxes the body of fatigue and has almost an equal effect as alcohol. However, this has not been seconded by researchers. Over all, tobacco smoke gets into the body and damages the lungs and causes lung cancer and other lung diseases which are chronic like bronchitis, etc.

Teenagers start smoking to display machismo. “A cigarette in a hand and you feel like a man”, this is what their ego tell them when they smoke. Most teenagers don’t even know why they smoke because they are too young to understand anatomy. Most of these teenagers who smoke would, this is what their ego tell them when they smoke. Smoking not only affects the person who smokes but also the person who is a passive smoker. Out of the number of people who get affected by smoking, 16% are passive smokers. This means that the one who smokes is also harming the one who does not.

Smoking also adds up to environmental pollution.

Smoking has a number of psychological affects also. People who smoke are not so welcome in their own families. It is a reason for several family disputes. Smoking is also a waste of money. Smoking reduces stamina. Smoking kills a person much earlier than his scheduled death. Women who smoke affect their own reproductive system.

Smoking is an addiction which is more harmful than alcohol. It is said that a small amount of alcohol intake reduces the risk of heart attacks but smoking does not even have any such feature.

Quit smoking and lead a happy life.

YOGA

The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root YUJ, Meaning to bind, attach, to direct and concentrate one’s attention on. It mainly means Union or Communion. Yoga is the turning away of the senses from the objective universe and the concentration of the mind within. Yoga is eternal life in the soul or spirit. Yoga aims at controlling the mind and its modifications. The path of Yoga is an inner path whose gateway is your heart.

Yoga is the discipline of the mind, senses and physical body. Yoga helps in the co-ordination and control of the subtle forces within the body. Yoga brings in perfection, peace and everlasting happiness. Yoga can help you in your business and in your daily life. You can have calmness of mind at all times by the practice of yoga.

A Guru or Preceptor is indispensable for the practice of Yoga. The aspirant in the path of Yoga should be humble, simple, gentle, refined, tolerant, merciful and kind. If you have a curiosity to get psychic powers, you cannot have success in Yoga. Yoga does not consist in sitting cross-legged for six hours or stopping the pulse or beatings of the heart or getting oneself buried below the ground for a week or a month.

Self – sufficiency, disrespect, arrogance, luxury, name, fame, self-assertiveness, stubbornness, idea of superiority, sensual desires, evil company, laziness, overeating, overwork are some of the obstacles in the path of Yoga. Admit your faults freely. When you are free from all these evil traits, Samadhi or Union will come on its own.
